JK will go the extra mile to pack your goods so that they are properly protected. But so much can happen during transit out on the high seas. That's why it's important to protect your belongings with the proper amount of valuation.
Let's start with the basics:
What is valuation? Valuation is defined as the designated dollar value, or the worth, of your shipment. But when it comes to international moves, valuation is little bit trickier, because you need to estimate how much it will cost to completely replace all of your items in your new country. The value of the U.S. dollar might be more or less depending on the exchange rate of the country to which you are moving. Additionally, the cost of goods might be more or less as well depending on your destination.
Is valuation included? No. Not in an overseas move. Unlike a local or long distance residential move made within the U.S. where a basic level of coverage is provided at no additional cost, basic coverage is not provided in an overseas move.
Can I buy valuation? Yes. You can buy valuation through JK Moving Services. Your international move coordinator can advise you on how much valuation you'll need.
Will my homeowner's policy cover my shipment? Do not expect to have automatic coverage through your homeowner's policy. Most policies do not offer protection of your international move.
