Chuck Kuhn Breaks Records as Fight Night Chairman
Sterling, VA Business Leader Shows His Commitment to the Community.
November 6, 2006—Sterling, VA—Chuck Kuhn, President and CEO of Sterling, VA-based JK Moving & Storage, believes strongly in giving back to his community. Through the years, his company has benefited dozens of charities, locally and nationally, large and small, adult-oriented and children-focused.
Earlier this month however, Chuck's philanthropy hit new heights when he assumed the Chairmanship of Fight Night 2006, Washington, D.C.'s most highly-anticipated, dynamic and successful charity fundraiser. A veritable who's-who of the D.C. business, sports, media and political elite, Fight Night attracts more than 2,200 movers-and-shakers to a night of great food, live boxing, legendary celebrities and hot musical entertainment, all the while benefiting more than a dozen D.C.-based children's charities.
Now in its 17 year, Fight For Children has raised and leveraged more than $190 million to support more than 150 youth and family-serving organizations and expand options for families in education; and in his role as Chairman of Fight Night 2006, Kuhn has literally raised the bar higher than ever before. This year, thanks to Kuhn's efforts, Fight Night raised more than $2.4 million dollars, the largest single-year amount ever generated.
"It's an incredible honor to serve as Chairman of Fight Night but it also carries with it great responsibility," Kuhn said. "Each chairman has his own distinct personality, puts his own personal stamp on the event, attracts his own personal circle of friends and colleagues and, for that one year, leaves a little of his own imprint—his own legacy, if you will—on Fight Night. I'm personally thrilled to have had the opportunity for give back to so many deserving causes."
Proceeds from Fight Night 2006 will benefit organizations such as the Alexandria Boxing Club, Big Brothers/Big Sisters of the National Capital Area, Children's National Medical Center, Latin American Youth Center, and the Washington Scholarship Fund. In addition to these charities, the 2006 Chairman's Choice Charity selected by Kuhn was the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation.
Celebrity guests included legendary boxers Joe Frazier, Jake LaMotta, Hector Camacho Sr., Michael Spinks, Roberto Duran, Micky Ward, Aaron Pryor, Gerry Cooney and Buster Douglas as well as NASCAR legend Mario Andretti.
