Starting September 14th, the JK Community Farm, a 150-acre farm in Purcellville, Virginia that grows crops and livestock and donates them to nonprofits to alleviate hunger, will supplement distance learning by providing a field trip program.

Thanks to scores of volunteers, the meticulously prepared rows at the JK Community Farm south of Round Hill are filled with seedlings—some 9,000 vegetable plants that will provide nearly 30,000 meals to residents in the region.
Long before the pandemic, hunger has existed in our community. Food insecurity in the locale touted as the wealthiest county in the U.S. is a reality. It is estimated that as many as 15,000 to 17,000 of Loudoun residents need additional assistance.
The JK Community Farm was founded to grow fresh produce for those who are food insecure in the Northern Virginia area. Friday was the first day of its second annual Plant-A-Thon, during which volunteers planted over 3,000 seedlings.
